After successfully completing Acting 1, students become eligible for Acting 2 which pursues a comprehensive standards-based theatre arts training program to develop perceptive and aesthetically aware students who would be able to enter into further academic and/or professional theatre work. The course will expand on the students' acting foundation by exploring and analyzing various periods and styles in theatre history. Activities include basic warm up stretches and relaxation exercises, Drama “games”, vocal development, improvisation, and scene preparation. Students that complete Acting 2, may enroll in Acting 3. Students may re-enroll in future terms, and take the course multiple times. Students taking the course multiple times will expand upon the fundamental techniques, tools, and exercises, as well as deepening their skills, and knowledge of acting, directing, playwriting, and dramaturgy. Students will explore direction and playwriting through the development of a director's concept, and collaborating with actors in scene work. Advanced students may choose to focus their coursework primarily on directing or playwriting with instructor permission. The course will also offer workshops with professional guest artists.
